Life transformation is hard work!
And it's impossible to do alone.
If we're really desire to know Jesus and, by grace, be transformed in Him, then we need other people to help us. So please don't just come to church. Sunday morning worship is a great start with inspirational music and Bible-based sermons, but it's not enough. We need time to process who Jesus is leading us to be - time spent with a group around us.
Community Groups are not therapy. They offer good, healthy discussion to understand what God teaches in the Bible and how we are to live it out. Sometimes it's talking about what keeps us from where Jesus wants us to go. In other conversations, we may celebrate the joy of obedience to the Holy Spirit's leading. And sometimes, it's a new understanding of something we've already heard, on a deeper level.
Community Groups are not all about us and what we get from the group. Time spent in community is a gift that we give to help others grow in their own relationship with Jesus. We might need to listen and let someone express what's bothering them. Maybe challenge someone to really live what they say. And then there's the joy of celebrating good things in each others' lives. The blessings of being in community together are best when they're lived out, rather than told to us.
At ECC, Community Groups are so basic to knowing Jesus that we've launched My First Group, an always-open group that meets right after Worship on Sunday mornings at Silver Trail Middle School. It's designed for people new to community to discover connection through Bible-based discussions that dig deeper into the weekly sermon and how it applies to life. We really hope you'll show up!
